I have been pondering for a while, and am wondering if it is possible.
to potentially Dump the NAND Flash chip (the Atmel Branded one) of an Emailer with the Final CONFIG file, and comparing it with a Dump of a "Bricked" Emailer,
i say "Bricked" because I don't think it is truly unreversable, the Ill Fated WebTV boxes have gotten services revived, as has the Nintendo Wii, Dreamcast and Original Xbox Live 1.0. I am considering potentially making one for the emailer, though of course this could rely on a patched system, which I believe mine is not however mine is Used not new.
however perhaps analyzing a firmware dump of an Emailer that is Patched and comparing it with one that is "bricked", making adequate adjustments if necessary such as baked in Phone numbers, and other hardware specific details, and then flashing that fixed firmware to a bricked emailer. i do not currently own the all important CONFIG file and if anyone still somehow has a Functioning Pocket Dock-it with the file on it i would be grateful.
once that theory has been tested we can go about analyzing the websites and URLs the device tries calling up, and redirect them to fan made sites to restore functionality,
Premium Rate Numbers? not a chance!, if we can adapt these to run on a mix of VOiP and a net service the Dreamcast uses called DreamPi, it uses a Raspberry Pi which adapts LAN to Dial up, and is very reliable. you will however need a Line Voltage inducer cable which requires Double that of the American line voltage (USA uses 9v), the DreamPi has been confirmed to work with the Dreamcast, Select WebTV boxes and an Apple IBook G3 (toilet Seat) for web surfing, the DreamPi works for internet access but i am not sure what we could use for actuall "Telephone" funtionality, Modified cables? i don't know, i will need somebody more knowledgeable in the field of telephony for that.
this of course works for original Emailers/plusses like mine, and i don't know much about the E3 as I do not own one (Yet).
if anyone can provide extra info like Dumps and other things like that do leave them in the replies. I bid you all good day!
