Sky removed the license to use the trademark "ZX Spectrum" so now its called the Vega+ but still has Sinclair on it.
The model that backers are getting now are just prototypes and don't work properly, like the SD card slot don't work so don't even try and play a game from it,you can try and put the game in a folder but it properly still will not work, it has button problems too where you have press down on them hard for them to do anything,I have post a fix that you can try to see if it fixes the buttons, the Dpad can be fixed if you put some rubber on top of them so they stick out more and easier to push down on them but need to fix there contacts first.
This is what they said about it in 2015, its a shame in the end it was a scam and they realized they couldn't make it the way it should of been made and spent all the backer money.
It is designed and manufactured in the UK – the home of the original ZX Spectrum revolution. Improves on the original – no more waiting for a game to load via tape. Is rated by PEGI as suitable for all adults and children aged seven and upwards.
Connects to both your TV’s USB port (for power) and its video/audio inputs (for the signal) no other cables are needed
Is pre-loaded with 1000 licensed games – just grab your TV and you’re ready to go!
Allows you to play almost any ZX Spectrum game via its micro SD Card slot. Well-known retro gaming sites carry tens of thousands of titles that you can legally download. Can play games you yourself have programmed.
Comes complete with ready-mapped buttons for all included games, as well as the option of using the in-built virtual keyboard.
Includes a selection of games such as classics that will keep long-term fans happy and newly-written games that will introduce a whole new generation to the wonderful world of the Sinclair ZX Spectrum Vega.
My advice would be not to back a product that has not been made yet, make sure it has a prototype and use Kickstarter.
On that you have to have a working Prototype, Indiegogo need to change there rules and it would stop things like this happening, this is why TheC64 (then The64) didn't get funded on Indiegogo, Me I wouldn't back anything on Indiegogo.
What the Vega+ needs is to be hacked so you can add you own games to the Gameslist but I don't think that will happen because there is not enough units out there, theres only about 80 that was ever made and send to backers.
The ZX Spectrum Vega Plus how it should of looked...
But looks like this...
This is a good video about the Vega+ scandle...
This looked good and made your heart race at the time..
