The Amstrad E3 started to restart itself several times and then stopped starting up altogether,a big smell of burn plastic started coming out of the E3,you know that smell, like a soldering iron has touched plastic. I found the problem with it,its a component that looks like a IC, it has 8 legs and it has 3 of them on the Logic board, you can see its bobbled on top of it where its burn out, It could be a IC regulator. Here some pictures, its say next to it U18. (I know C stands for Capacitor and R is Resistor so what does U stand for on the E3 logic board..? Found out... U stands for Integrated circuit.) Picture of the Logic Board working. U18 burn out. Closeup of U18. Its a 063AC STMicroelectronics Switching Voltage Regulator and its here eu.mouser.com/Semiconductors/Integrated-Circuits-ICs/Power-Management-ICs/Voltage-Regulators-Voltage-Controllers/Switching-Voltage-Regulators/_/N-6j76f?keyword=063AC
